YMCA - Cameroon
The Youth Justice and Dignity Programme, supported by the Cameroon YMCA, assists young people who are in conflict with the law or at risk of conflict through a three-phase approach: prevention, in-prison support, and post-release reintegration. Since 2021, the initiative has provided civic education, vocational training, life skills, and micro-grants using a co-creative design sprint model. The impact includes 23 youth starting or expanding businesses, 10 learning electronics repair, and others gaining access to safer workspaces and civic dialogue. The programme empowers justice-involved youth with skills, dignity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
YMCA Victoria (Australia) – ReBuild Second Chance Employment
ReBuild is a social enterprise dedicated to supporting young people involved in the criminal justice system, providing them with a path to reintegration through training, mentoring, and employment opportunities. Operating as a commercial maintenance business, members involved in the program have dropped the reoffending rate from over 50% to just 3%.
World YMCA – Youth-Led Solutions, Climate Action
Through the Youth-Led Solutions Initiative, 35 youth-led climate projects in 20 countries have been supported. Focus areas include waste management, food security, advocacy, and conservation.
